Shrinky Dinks

I remember them from when I was a child but I never owned them. I've seen them at Michaels but thought, "What would I do with those things?!" A couple weeks ago I was cruising the net and found a post about Shrinky Dinks and it was inspiring. (Check the post here)
My mother makes jewelry so we decided to try this out. We went to Michaels and used a 40% coupon making the price about $3.50 for 10 sheets. You need to use the pre roughened onse for these projects. I tried it first with a stamp and some colored pencils. They darken up substancially when they shrink. The items end up about 1/3rd the size of the original item. Next we tried it in the printer - and it worked! Here is an item I tried. It was originally a party decoration for my mother's 50th b-day party. I'm using it in a mini-album that I'll post when I'm done.
The original image shown here on a papertowel was about 10" long.
